The Easiest-to-Use Technology For Seniors

|

For many senior adults, the onslaught of rapidly progressing technology can be daunting and even scary. However, this technological expansion has resulted in a wide variety of senior-friendly devices and applications designed specifically to assist older adults with navigating their day-to-day lives, keeping in touch with friends and family, and more. Brightwater Senior Living has compiled a list of a few of these options that may be helpful to you.

GrandPad

The GrandPad is a tablet specifically designed for older adults, featuring large on-screen icons and capabilities for gaming, music streaming, and video chatting. Family members are able to pre-program the GrandPad with contact information, photos, and more. The GrandPad’s intuitive design and interface, including an optional stylus, a charging dock in place of a cord, and 24/7 easy-to-contact support, makes it perfect for seniors. While the price is fairly steep, the fact that the tablet acts as an all-in-one phone, tablet, and TV definitely makes it worth its weight.

Flipper Remote

This simple remote with a small amount of large buttons combines your TV and cable channels, making it far easier to navigate than a standard remote. The Flipper Remote eliminates the need for multiple remotes and works with a wide variety of different providers, including AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, and DirecTV. The remote also locks your initial setup after you complete it and even hides the setup buttons with a sliding door, preventing seniors from accidentally reprogramming the remote.

Jitterbug Smart3

The Jitterbug brand has long been known as a company that produces easy-to-use cell phones for seniors. One of their latest products is the Jitterbug Smart3, a large smartphone with a simple, list-based menu, powerful speaker, and long-lasting battery. It combines all the conveniences of a smartphone with all the familiar comfort of a Jitterbug phone, and the cost is fairly low for everything it’s capable of.

We hope we were able to shed some light on easy-to-use technologies designed for older adults. For more information on senior living and ways to make your everyday life easier, visit the Brightwater blog.
